Japan and Russia collaborate on Sochi Winter Olympics

Welcoming the expertise of Japanese companies, Russia will go a route similar to the United Arab Emirates by having artificial islands built in the Black Sea off the coast of resort city Sochi, the venue for the 2014 Winter Olympics. The project will include over 10 islands which will house Olympic facilities, according to this article from EARTHtimes.org. Sochi may yet surprise the world in being the only destination within an hour of Mediterranean latitudes to host Winter Olympics. The winter events will take place with a contrasting backdrop of snow-capped peaks and palm trees.
